Statement on Incident at HELP University

Earlier this morning, an incident occurred in the kitchen of an F&B outlet located on the 4th floor of one of HELP University’s campus building at Bukit Damansara. Students and staff on campus were immediately evacuated in accordance with emergency protocols. Emergency services arrived shortly after they were notified.

Nine people sustained injuries, including four students and one university staff member. We are saddened to share that there was one fatality involving an external contractor. We wish to extend our condolences to the family of the deceased.

Our priority right now is the wellbeing of those affected, and we are working closely with medical services to ensure that those affected receive the appropriate medical assistance. We are also in communications with family members of the affected to provide our support and assistance.
We are working very closely with the authorities, as well as the building owner and building management company, to determine the cause of this unfortunate incident. The affected building will remain closed until investigations are completed.

As we are highly committed to provide a safe environment for our students and everyone on campus, we are immediately commencing our own internal checks to ensure the safety and integrity of the rest of our Bukit Damansara Campus as well as our Subang Bestari campus. We want to assure and affirm that the Subang Bestari campus will remain open for operations and classes.
