On 10 June 2025, HELP University proudly participated as an exhibitor at the PIKOM CIO Conference (PCIOC) 2025, held at The Vertical, Connexion Conference & Event Centre (CCEC), Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur. Organised by the PIKOM CIO Chapter, this year’s conference carried the highly relevant theme: “Gen AI in Action: Transforming Ideas into Impact.”

The event attracted 436 delegates and featured a distinguished lineup of 7 keynote speakers, 3 moderators, and 12 panelists from some of the most influential technology and enterprise organisations in the region, including IBM, Maxis, Hillstone Network, Zoho Corporation APAC, U Mobile, Catalyst Edge AI Sdn. Bhd., PLUS Malaysia Berhad, Dataiku, Mydin and KPMG.

The opening remarks were delivered by Ngoh Chee Hung, Chair of the PIKOM CIO Chapter and Director of the Corporate Information Centre at HELP University, who set the tone by highlighting the critical role of academia in developing AI-ready talent and cultivating partnerships that bridge research, innovation, and real-world application. His dual role as a university leader and industry representative underscored the relevance of higher education institutions in national digital transformation conversations.

PIKOM, the National Tech Association of Malaysia, represents nearly 2,000 active members that span the full spectrum of tech products and services, collectively commanding over 80% of Malaysia’s digital economy. In 2023 alone, the tech sector contributed RM427.7 billion to the national GDP (23.5%) and is on track to hit 25.5% by 2025. The association plays a pivotal role in advocating for industry growth, talent development, and policy advancement through its eight dedicated chapters, including the CIO Chapter.

HELP University’s booth at PCIOC 2025 showcased a range of AI and tech-driven initiatives from its Faculty of Computing and Digital Technology and ELM Graduate School. Visitors learned about HELP’s forward-looking curriculum in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, FinTech, and Digital Business, as well as its efforts in integrating generative AI tools into classroom learning, research, and enterprise collaboration.

Beyond education, HELP is actively contributing to the national AI agenda through industry-academic research partnerships, internship pipelines, and faculty development programmes designed to ensure graduates are AI-literate and industry-ready.

As keynote speakers and panelists from global and regional tech giants discussed the real-world implementation of Gen AI in sectors ranging from banking and telecommunications to cloud computing and cybersecurity, it became clear that Malaysia’s AI future depends on holistic, cross-sector collaboration. Through its participation in PCIOC 2025, HELP University reaffirmed its commitment to being not just a provider of education, but a driver of innovation, knowledge exchange, and societal impact.

HELP University extends its gratitude to PIKOM for organising this timely and impactful conference and looks forward to future engagements that bring academia and industry together to co-create Malaysia’s digital future.
