JOB FUNCTION
The role is responsible for engaging and supporting adult learners and working professionals in their educational journey through Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) pathways, particularly APEL.Q, by assessing their needs, advising on appropriate learning routes, and facilitating the recognition of prior learning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Adult Learner Engagement & Advisory
a) Serve as the primary point of contact for adult learners, working professionals, and industry practitioners
b) Understand learners’ career goals, prior experience, and learning needs
c) Provide advisory on APEL pathways (especially APEL.Q) and suitable academic progression routes
d) Guide candidates in preparing portfolios and documentation for assessment
2. APEL Assessment & Coordination
a) Support and coordinate APEL.Q assessment processes, including portfolio field & validation visit, challenge test and capstone evaluation
b) Work closely with academic advisors/assessors/moderators to ensure fair, rigorous, and compliant assessment
c) Ensure alignment with MQA APEL guidelines and institutional policies
d) Responsible for coordinating and centralizing all APEL programmes offered at HELP.
3. Learner Support & Experience
a) Provide a supportive and professional experience for adult learners throughout the APEL journey
b) Address queries with clarity, empathy, and responsiveness
c) Build trust and confidence among learners who may be returning to education after a long gap
4. Documentation & Compliance
1 a) Maintain accurate records of applications, assessments, and outcomes
b) Ensure proper documentation for audit and MQA compliance
c) Monitor timelines and ensure timely processing of applications
5. Outreach & Promotion
a) Engage with industry partners, organisations, and communities to promote APEL opportunities
b) Participate in briefings, workshops, and information sessions
c) Support initiatives to grow lifelong learning and micro-credentials
6. Internal Coordination
a) Work closely with faculties, academic staff, and administrative units
b) Facilitate smooth communication between learners, advisors/assessors/moderators, and the university
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
a) Minimum Master’s degree (preferably in Education, Management, Psychology, or related fields)
b) Familiarity with APEL (especially APEL.Q) or adult learning frameworks is an added advantage
c) Experience in:
â–ª Higher education / training / HRD / professional development, OR
â–ª Working with adult learners / executive education
d) Proficiency in Mandarin and familiarity with AI-enabled tools (e.g., for advisory support, documentation, or learner engagement) are an added advantage
