Recently, two students from our faculty have received scholarships to study at the University of the West of England (UWE) in Bristol, United Kingdom.

These two students are:

Meng Yu

Meng Yu, graduated from the Niskayuna High School in New York City, USA and was introduced to the Bachelor of Business (Accounting) (Hons) programme offered at HELP at a Higher Education Fair in Mid Valley by Mr. Stephen Wu, Dean of FBEA. He chose to do a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at HELP due to the number of exemptions granted by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) as well as the flexibility to complete his studies abroad. Men Yu obtained a scholarship to study the Final Year of an Accounting and Finance degree at UWE. UWE has been recognised with the highest possible rating in the Teaching Excellence and Student Outcome Framework (TEF) in 2018 as a Gold-standard institution in recognition of the institution’s consistent outstanding teaching quality.

Sanford Yanesh Lopez, another recipient of the UWE Scholarship went to UWE to do the final year of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance. He chose to study at UWE because of the university’s reputation of having a good track record in producing very skillful and job-ready graduates.

Reputable programmes offered by FBEA

Both students have chosen to study an Accounting degree programme at HELP because of the reputation of FBEA in the offering of accounting programmes.

HELP’s accounting programme is the first accounting programme offered by a private university in Malaysia to be accredited by Certified Practising Accountants (CPA). The accounting programme is also granted maximum exemptions by professional bodies such as ACCA and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

Another popular programme offered by FBEA is the Diploma in Business programme which prepares students for admission into the second year of business-related degree programmes at HELP and internationally-recognised universities. It is widely accepted by Australian, British and NZ universities as being equivalent to their first year course of studies, such as the University of Queensland, University of Western Australia, University of New South Wales, Macquarie University, Leeds University and Liverpool University.

Majority of the students choose to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Business at HELP upon completion of the 2-year Diploma programme as students are able to complete a Bachelor’s degree in Business in less than two years. This being the case, all SPM or O-Levels leavers can now graduate with a degree in Business Studies in less than four years. Students who have completed a Diploma in Business are also well prepared for the job market as they will have acquired the knowledge and practical skills in business.

Exclusive transfer option with the University of Queensland (UQ) Australia

The University of Queensland (UQ), one of Australia’s top eight universities, offers HELP Diploma in Business graduates a flexible 2+2 credit transfer arrangement to complete a degree in Business or Commerce at UQ. HELP’s Bachelor of Business students are offered with an exclusive 2+1 credit transfer arrangement in recognition of the high quality of teaching at HELP, the only institution in Malaysia to have this exclusive arrangement. This makes both the HELP Diploma in Business and Bachelor of Business programmes, highly attractive programmes. Furthermore, in recognition of the long standing partnership with HELP and also the high standard and quality of the programmes offered by FBEA, UQ will provide all students enrolling in eligible pathway programmes at UQ the ‘Global Connect Scholarship which is worth about RM32,000
