Strategic Collaboration in Teluk Intan to Foster Entrepreneurship and Skills Development

Teluk Intan, 27 February 2025 – HELP University, through its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) division, has launched a transformative initiative in collaboration with the Hilir Perak District Education Office and Majlis Guru Kaunseling Kebangsaan (Teluk Intan) to enhance TVET-related programmes in 14 schools across the Teluk Intan region. This initiative aims to provide students with alternative pathways to vocational education, equipping them with the necessary skills to build meaningful careers and contribute to Malaysia’s technical workforce.

As part of this initiative, HELP University is supporting the development and enhancement of TVET programmes in these schools. This funding will be used to equip students with essential resources and tools, ensuring they receive industry-relevant vocational training that aligns with market demands.

HELP TVET, established in 2014, is committed to providing students with a curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience. Through strategic partnerships with industry leaders, including CKL Group of Companies (Lim Tayar), WD-40, Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur, Pensonic, Nippon Paint, Shell Malaysia, Cuckoo, Daikin, and Bosch, students gain exposure to real-world work environments, enhancing their employability and readiness for the workforce.

The curriculum structure consists of 30% theoretical learning, where students grasp fundamental principles, and 70% practical training, immersing them in real workshop environments equipped with state-of-the-art tools and industry-standard technology.

A key pillar of HELP TVET’s approach is career guidance and ongoing alumni support. Graduates benefit from career consultations, job placement assistance, and networking opportunities to help them transition seamlessly into the workforce. Specialised training is offered in the automotive and electrical industries, preparing students for careers as car mechanics, light vehicle technicians, or electrical industry professionals with a solid foundation in both technical expertise and practical application.

Chairman of the Teluk Intan Education Foundation, Datuk Azhar Jamaludin expressed strong support for the initiative, stating, “We are proud to reaffirm our long-standing partnership with HELP University through the HELP-TVET programme, equipping students in Hilir Perak with industry-relevant skills. With support from the Hilir Perak District Education Office, this collaboration bridges education and employment, ensuring graduates enter the workforce with confidence. Under the tagline ‘Belajar, Terus Kerja,’ we emphasise continuous learning and skill development. This partnership has provided hands-on training, internships, and real-world exposure, enhancing students’ career prospects. We remain committed to strengthening this collaboration with HELP-TVET, with the full support of its Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Paul Chan, and deeply appreciate HELP’s generous donation to promote TVET programmes in Teluk Intan.”

Datuk Paul Chan has recently launched the Centre for Humane Entrepreneurship, with the support of ICSB (International Council of Small Businesses) and the Mayor of Jenju, South Korea. As a social entrepreneur, he said that just training is not enough. ‘We must help the students to think and act entrepreneurially. We shall help them to create startups as part of the training program.”

Through this strategic collaboration and financial contribution, HELP University reaffirms its dedication to expanding access to quality vocational education, nurturing skilled professionals, and meeting the nation’s growing demand for technical expertise.
