Kuala Lumpur, 27 March 2025 – HELP University and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) have signed a Co-operation Agreement to introduce innovative education opportunities for students choosing careers in accounting.

With HELP University being a major partner of ISCA in Malaysia, the collaboration affirms the high academic standards of HELP.

This partnership will strengthen the academic and professional ties between Malaysia and Singapore that would set new global standards in accounting practices.

Professor Dr Liew Teik Kooi, Vice Chancellor of HELP University, and Ms Fann Kor, Chief Executive Officer of ISCA signed the Co-operation Agreement, which was witnessed by representatives of accounting and industry professionals.

HELP University and ISCA have explored various initiatives to enhance the employability and mobility of Malaysian and other foreign students studying at HELP. These include the recognition of ISCA qualifications in relation to HELP University’s Bachelor in Accounting (Hons) programme, the development of specialised training programmes, Level Zero Programme, and ISCA’s e-learning platform — ISCAccountify.

Additionally, the partnership also initiates joint certifications, bursaries for top accounting students, and discussions on positioning HELP University as an ISCA Recognised Learning Organisation (RLO), and an Overseas Examination Centre (OEC) in Malaysia. There are also prospects for professional internship and job placement. Research that focuses on ESG compliances and other regulatory governance is also a priority agenda item.

HELP University Chancellor and Co-founder, Professor Datuk Dr Paul Chan, stressed that collaborative intelligence is the platform of this forward-looking partnership. At HELP, we practise collaborative alliances to position our future. The partnership with ISCA is about creating an ecosystem for our graduates to thrive and to be future-fit to lead. I am proud that this partnership is a pioneering initiative between a Malaysian private university and ISCA. It shows the mutual trust about our respective commitment to high professional standards.”

Professor Dr Liew reiterated that “The future of professional industries like accountancy is shaped by emerging technologies. Today it is AI, tomorrow it could be innovations beyond our imagination. This partnership equips our learners with globally recognised credentials, industry expertise, and the adaptability to excel in a growing competitive environment”.

“We are delighted to partner with HELP University through this Co-operation Agreement, which marks a significant milestone in our efforts to foster global mobility for accounting students. This collaboration will not only provide students with a unique opportunity to gain international exposure and recognition, but also build a strong talent pipeline for employers in both Malaysia and Singapore,” said ISCA CEO Ms Fann Kor. “By leveraging each other’s strengths, we aim to nurture a new generation of accountancy professionals who are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and expertise to succeed in an increasingly interconnected and complex business landscape. We believe that this partnership will have a profound impact on the accountancy profession in both countries, driving growth, innovation, and excellence in the years to come.”
