As part of the TRM223 Tour Operations module at HELP University, students from the School of Hospitality and Tourism had the exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the MATTA Fair 2025. Held from 5th to 7th September at MITEC, the event was a perfect platform for students to apply their classroom learning in a real-world setting. In collaboration with industry partner Corporate Information Travel Sdn. Bhd. (CIT) and All Nippon Airways (ANA), the students were immersed in the dynamic world of tourism marketing, customer service, and event management.
Under the expert guidance of Mr. Patrick, Manager of Sales, Reservations, and Ticketing at ANA, and Ms. Yee Naa, Vice President of Sales at CIT, students played an active role at the CIT x ANA booth. Their tasks included managing the crowd, answering customer inquiries, promoting exclusive travel packages, and assisting with membership registrations and contest giveaways. The students worked from 9 AM to 9 PM each day, gaining invaluable insights into the daily operations of a major tourism event.

This experiential learning opportunity gave students a unique chance to interact with both industry professionals and fair attendees, honing their communication and organisational skills in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. The collaboration with CIT and ANA provided students with a deeper understanding of how global travel brands operate and how to engage customers effectively at such events.
For students pursuing a career in tourism and hospitality, this hands-on experience not only enriched their academic knowledge but also provided them with the practical skills needed to thrive in the competitive tourism industry. The MATTA Fair experience marked an important milestone in their educational journey, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the tourism and travel sector.
