Marybeth Chang
Marybeth Chang is a lecturer at HELP University, specialising in research methods and mental health in autism and dementia. She holds an MSc in Mental Health: Research and Practice with Distinction from the University of Nottingham, UK, and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with First Class Honours from the University of Nottingham Malaysia.
Marybeth gained extensive research experience through projects focusing on autonomic arousal and emotion regulation, autism, and dementia. She served as a lecturer and module convener at the University of Nottingham Malaysia, where she led comprehensive lectures and developed educational resources for a research methods module. Additionally, she managed research operations for the Mind and NeuroDevelopment (MiND) cluster, coordinating significant academic events and research activities. Her work has been published in reputable journals, including the British Journal of Psychology and the International Journal of Psychophysiology.
Marybeth’s practical experience includes working as an Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) Therapist at an autism intervention centre, where she provided individualised therapy for clients with autism. She has also volunteered at the Alzheimer’s Society and the University of Nottingham’s Centre for Dementia in the United Kingdom, gaining valuable insights into the challenges faced by individuals with dementia and their caregivers. Marybeth is also certified as a Mental Health First Aider by the Malaysian Mental Health Association, underscoring her dedication to improving mental health care and her commitment to ongoing professional development in this crucial field.
