Lai Ho Yan

Lecturer

Ho Yan is a dedicated lecturer with a passion for both teaching and research. She received Distinction for her academic excellence during her postgraduate degree in Cognitive Neuroscience (MSc) from University of Sussex, England. Ho Yan’s fascination lies in the workings of the human mind and visual perception, particularly in colour perception. For her postgraduate dissertation, she collaborated with experts from Sussex Colour Group to explore the brain’s adaptability to drastic changes in the visual environment. Her passion for colour studies led her to develop an undergraduate-level elective course specializing in colour psychology. Currently, Ho Yan is engaged in research projects centered around visual health and visual memory. This includes an international research collaboration with University of Sussex studying the impacts of urban environment on visual discomfort among Malaysian adults, and a faculty project focusing on the use of virtual reality (VR) to enhance spatial ability. Moving forward, Ho Yan aims to further understand how the human mind process visual information, and to discover potential use of VR as a pedagogical tool through research.
