Dr. Khor Khai Ling

Dr. Khor Khai Ling is the Head of Department and a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at HELP University, Malaysia. Her academic and research interests centre on cognitive psychology, with a focus on cognitive functioning in everyday life and healthy cognitive ageing.

Her research examines the interplay between nutrition, vision, and cognitive functioning, particularly the role of dietary carotenoids in visual health and cognitive changes associated with ageing. Her work encompasses memory, attention, and executive functioning, as well as macular pigment and its relevance to visual health. Beyond ageing research, she is interested in attention, executive functioning, and decision-making in everyday contexts, including how environmental and digital influences shape human cognition and behaviour.

Dr. Khor holds a PhD in Medical Science from Sunway University and is a registered counsellor with the Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia (LKM). She is also a member of the Society for Applied Research in Memory and Cognition (SARMAC), an international research community dedicated to advancing the study of memory and cognition.

Before entering academia, Dr. Khor worked in hospital-based social work, supporting individuals and families navigating medical and psychological challenges. This experience informs her applied approach to psychology, emphasising the connection between research, real-world experiences, and meaningful student learning.
