Foo Jiet Yan is currently a Psychology lecturer teaching at HELP University. She obtained her Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of Cyberjaya in 2021, receiving Dean’s List awards; and graduated with first-class honors in Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) Psychology from the Universiti of Tunku Abdul Rahman. Her undergraduate thesis paper was selected as one of the top 16 papers at a local conference in 2018. Given her previous practicum experience, she had worked with people from diverse clinical populations, such as neurodevelopmental disorders, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder, as well as conducted several workshops for personal growth and development. Her current research interest revolves around the psychological impact of social media use and the important considerations in psychological testing. She believes that learning psychology is fun and beneficial in many ways, whether it is for gaining insight about oneself, being more accepting of individual differences, or helping to reform society. Now being a psychology lecturer, she wishes she could cultivate nonjudgemental curiosity in students as she believes it has an important role to play in the fast-paced world nowadays.
