Senior Lecturer
Dr Choo Yeong Kong
Dr. Choo Yeong Khong is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for General Studies and MPU, HELP University. He holds a PhD in Community Development (2024), a Master of Science in Community Development (2015), and a Bachelor of Science in Human Development & Information Technology (2012) from Universiti Putra Malaysia.
He has been involved in teaching a wide range of undergraduate courses in sociology, philosophy, and community studies. Choo’s research primarily focuses on community development, with an emphasis on ethnic minorities in the country, including the Orang Asli (indigenous communities) in Malaysia.
He has published in journals, chapters in books, and popular writing. His research projects have been supported by grants from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, the National Professor Council, and the Research University Grant Scheme. He has presented his work at numerous conferences in Malaysia, Thailand, and USA.
In addition to his teaching and research, Choo is a member of the Qualitative Research Association of Malaysia and has previously been affiliated with the International Association for Community Development and the Malaysian Social Science Association.
