Senior Lecturer
Dorothy Rajoo
My interest about young children began to develop when I completed my secondary education. This interest led me on to work with young children in Sunday schools and eventually led me to apply for jobs in preschools, both local and international. Not satisfied with just working with them, my interest compelled me to want to know more about young children and how best to work with them. This led me to pursue studies which would help me to understand young children better so that I will be able to work better with them. So, I decided to take courses to learn more about them. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Education (Early Childhood Studies), Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia and Masters in Early Childhood Education, University Malaya. By now my interest moved on to want to share what I have learnt about how to work with young children with those working with young ones. Then, I embarked on my career as a lecturer with colleges and my last job held was with HELP University, where I worked, as a lecturer in August 2010, the year Early Childhood Education began in HELP University. I was appointed as the Program Leader for the Diploma Course, and a Senior Lecturer for both, Diploma and Bachelor courses. I retired from working with HELP University, as a Program Leader for the Diploma Course and Senior Lecturer, for both Diploma and Bachelor courses, in July 2016. My interest in wanting to share about how to work with young children still continued as I worked part-time with HELP University and other colleges and universities. Then, on August 2021, HELP University was in need of lecturers for the Department of Education. I accepted the offer and returned as a Senior Lecturer and am still at HELP University, Subang 2, as a Senior Lecturer for the Diploma and Bachelor programs in the Department of Education.
