On 10 November 2025, thirty students from the HELP University School of Hospitality and Tourism embarked on a highly anticipated and insightful industry field trip to the renowned MONIN Asia factory. This visit was strategically designed to bridge academic theory with real-world practice, significantly enhancing the students’ understanding of beverage production, flavour innovation, and the intricacies of global hospitality supply chains.

Deep Dive into Sustainable Production

The field trip commenced with a warm welcome from the MONIN Asia team, who immediately set the stage with a comprehensive presentation. Students received an in-depth briefing on the brand’s rich history, its expansive product portfolio spanning over 150 natural flavours, and crucially, its commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices and ingredient sourcing. This session provided critical context on how a global brand operates responsibly.

Following the presentation, the students were guided through the production facility. They had a rare opportunity to observe the entire manufacturing process, from the initial syrup formulation and ingredient blending to the sophisticated stages of pasteurisation, bottling, and final quality control. Observing this precision firsthand offered valuable insights into the rigorous standards required for international distribution and product consistency across diverse markets.

The Art of Flavour Application

A definite highlight of the day was the interactive tasting and demonstration session. Under the guidance of MONIN’s flavour experts, students were encouraged to sample a wide array of MONIN syrups, purees, and gourmet sauces. This hands-on experience was not merely for tasting; it focused on exploring the versatility and application of these products in developing innovative beverages—from classic cocktails and specialty coffees to culinary creations. This exercise fostered creative learning and deepened the students’ appreciation of flavour profiling, a critical skill in the modern hospitality industry.

The visit concluded with an engaging Q&A session, allowing the future hospitality leaders to ask specific questions regarding logistics, market trends, and career paths within the industry.

Overall, the field trip provided an enriching platform for experiential learning, industry engagement, and professional growth. This successful collaboration with a major global supplier like MONIN Asia underscores HELP University’s commitment to providing holistic education that directly prepares students for leadership roles in hospitality and tourism management.
