Kuala Lumpur, 14 June 2019 – HELP University is pleased to announce the scholarship winners for the University of Queensland (UQ) July 2019 intake.
The scholarship winners who are all studying in the Faculty of Business, Economics and Accounting (FBEA) at HELP are, Harsheenarit Kaur, Reyshma A/P K. Selva Kumar, Ng Jing Kai, Lim Xu Fern, Andrean Lim Shih Yee.
HELP University is the only university in Malaysia that has an exclusive 2+1 credit transfer arrangement with the University of Queensland for its business and IT programmes.
“This is why I chose to study at HELP University, so that I can pursue a degree in business studies, and later transfer to the University of Queensland. I’m very pleased to have won this scholarship, and I hope that I will be able to improve my knowledge and skills when I’m in Australia,” says Reyshma, who will be pursuing the Bachelor of Business Management degree at UQ.
When asked what the plus points of studying at HELP are, these achievers said that the academic staff are helpful and friendly, and took the effort to coach and guide the students in their studies, a comment which is frequently heard from most students.
Andrean and Harsheenarit both gave a word of advice to their juniors who hope to follow them in their footsteps and emulate their success, to not only study hard but to take good notes during lessons and revision, and to ask for help when needed.
“I’m looking forward to going to the University of Queensland which has a nice campus, and I hope to do well there. After completing my bachelor degree, I will be pursuing the CPA Australia qualification, as I want to be an accountant,” shares Jing Kai.
Xu Fern, who also intends to become an accountant says that she’s very grateful to her parents who have helped and supported her throughout her life and her studies.
HELP University’s accounting programme was the first accounting programme offered by a private university in Malaysia to be accredited by CPA Australia. The accounting programme is also granted maximum exemptions by professional bodies such as ACCA, ICAEW, and MAICSA. Accounting is also the most popular major programme in the faculty.
According to Mr Stephen Wu, Dean of the FBEA, 150 HELP students have won various scholarships from the University of Queensland since 2008. Many others have also won scholarships from other top Australian universities to continue their studies.

HELP University’s students are able to transfer to University of Queensland’s Bachelor of Commerce (2+1), Bachelor of Business Management (2+1), Bachelor of Economics (1.5 + 1.5), and Bachelor of International Hotel and Tourism Management (1.5 + 1.5)
For students interested to pursue a degree and career in accounting, finance, business and hospitality, HELP University’s FBEA offers degrees that are highly recognised by industry partners and professional bodies, giving them an advantage when they graduate, as they are able to gain exemptions and recognition when they apply to professional bodies. The programme is also recognized by most Australian universities for credit transfer.
HELP University’s Bachelor of Business (Accounting) (Honours) degree is recognised by three international professional accounting bodies. This is a testimony to the educational quality provided by this faculty. Not all universities in this world despite their status, will have their accounting degrees received maximum exemptions or accredited by ACCA, CPA Australia and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
The Bachelor of Business (Finance)(Honours) programme has been accepted into the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute University Recognition Programme. This status is granted to institutions whose degree programme(s) incorporates at least 70% of the CFA Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK), which provides students with a solid grounding in the CBOK and positions them well to sit for the CFA examinations. The Financial Planning Association of Malaysia also awards exemption for their Module 3 to students who have completed the Bachelor of Business (Finance)(Honours) degree. They will then only be required to complete 3 more modules to be awarded the Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
Students who have completed the Bachelor of Business (Honours) degree are also eligible to apply for Validation by Educational Experience (VEE) credit with the Society of Actuaries (SOA) of the United States of America if they receive the acceptable score in the VEE approved courses.
HELP University also provides various scholarships such as the School Achiever Scholarship Awards (SASA) to outstanding students who have displayed excellent leadership and academic results. Other scholarships available are Distinction, Merit, and the Principal’s List Award Scholarships. Furthermore, HELP University’s programmes are fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), and all HELP University’s business diploma and degree programmes are listed in the loan list of PTPTN.
