Job Description

  • Provide guidance and support to international students on cultural adjustment, student life, and adaptation to living in Malaysia.
  • Develop and implement international student engagement and welfare strategies to enhance student integration, sense of belonging, and overall student experience.
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver orientation programmes, including International Welcome Week and ongoing transition initiatives to support student onboarding.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for international student welfare matters, offering confidential advice and support, and referring students to counselling or external services where appropriate.
  • Proactively identify and support at-risk students, managing cases with appropriate intervention, including emergencies and crisis situations.
  • Manage student cases and complaints professionally, ensuring timely resolution and proper documentation.
  • Organise and oversee engagement activities such as cultural events, festivals, and student integration programmes to promote cross-cultural interaction between international and local students.
  • Develop and maintain international student resources, including survival kits and support materials.
  • Manage budgets for student activities and welfare programmes effectively.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, accommodation teams, student services, counselling and health services, and external agencies to ensure holistic student support.
  • Liaise with parents or guardians when necessary, particularly in cases involving minors or critical situations.
  • Assist in pre-arrival communications and preparations for new international students.
  • Coordinate arrival support to ensure a smooth transition and positive onboarding experience.
  • Work closely with student leaders to expand engagement outreach and participation.
  • Support the international marketing team by responding to online enquiries and providing programme counselling to prospective students.

Requirement

  • Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Psychology, Business or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years working experience in student services, welfare, or higher education industry is required for this position.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, both tactical and strategic to meet time and budgetary deadlines.
  • Energetic and able to work long hours and on weekends.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and able to work under pressure.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Strong strategic planning and problem-solving skills
  • Cross-cultural awareness and empathy
  • Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels with good communication skills in Mandarin & English. Proficiency in Bahasa and/or other dialects or languages will be an added advantage.
