After completing her UKDTP-Yr 1 at HELP University’s Faculty of Law, Onnelea transferred to the University of Manchester to complete her LLB years 2 and 3 from 2016 to 2108 and graduated in July 2018 with First Class Hons. Onnelea’s father, Walter Sandosm confirmed that his other daughter, Ezelea who did her A levels at HELP too, also graduated in Medicine with Honors from Manchester. Mr Sandosm attributes the double celebration to the quality of teaching at HELP.

Tripatjit Singh

Tripatjit registered with HELP University’s (HELP) Faculty of Law and Government for the UK Degree Transfer Programme, (UKDTP), in 2015, receiving a HELP bursary for his studies, during which he won a Book Prize Award. He then transferred to Cardiff University in Wales where he completed his LLB (Hons) in 2018, graduating with 2nd Class Hons, Upper.
He studied his Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) at BPP University, upon completion of which he was called to the bar of England and Wales, becoming Barrister-at-Law (Middle Temple) in 2018. In 2019, he started his pupillage with Albar & Partners, one of Malaysia’s leading law firms with emphasis in banking, finance, capital markets, as well as corporate and commercial law.
Tripatjit had completed his secondary education at Sri Dasmesh International School in 2015, scoring 6 As and 3 Bs and obtained his A-Levels at a private college in Kuala Lumpur before commencing his UKDTP at HELP in 2015. In 2016 and 2017, he had undertaken internship with Shafee & Co, a leading legal firm in Kuala Lumpur, specialising in criminal and civil litigation.
He shares his view on his UKDTP experience: “Equipped with experienced lawyers teaching and giving real life experience in the legal field, (providing assurance) that students are left in capable hands. HELP provides two additional subjects that are practice-based, and that trains students on real-life legal (scenarios) of practicing lawyers. This is a good kick-start for students intending to do the BPTC in the UK” .

Farhan Ashraq Abdul Malek

After graduating with his Cardiff University LLB (Hons), Farhan Ashraq joined Petronas, (Petroliam Nasional Berhad), Malaysia’s national petroleum corporation in 2007. Founded in 1974 and ranked as the 158th largest company in the world in 2019, Petronas is among Fortune Global 500 largest corporations, with business interests in more than 30 countries. Farhan is presently, in 2020, Legal Advisor within Group Legal Petronas (Gas and New Energy).
Farhan read law from 2002 to 2003 at HELP University’s (then known as HELP Institute) UK Degree Transfer Programme (UKDTP) with the Faculty of Law and Government, and transferred to the Cardiff in Wales where he completed his LLB (Hons) in 2006.
He completed his school education at St John’s Institution, one of Kuala Lumpur’s oldest schools and obtained his SPM (Malaysian Certificate of Education), in 2000, then registered with HELP for his A-Levels examination studies which he completed in 2001/2002before commencing the HELP UKDTP in 2002.
“HELP is a wonderful episode in my life. Fresh from school after SPM, I decided to take up A-Levels and I am glad that I chose the right institution. Basically, HELP offered a conducive learning environment, including a full team of dedicated and intelligent lecturers. Shabana Naseer Ahmad

“I must give credit to the lecturers who always went beyond their call of duty to offer their support. They valued our opinion and encouraged us to think out of the box, a skill that I certainly developed at HELP. Besides that, the syllabus and programmes conducted by the University prepared us to face the real world. Shabana Naseer Ahmad is Senior Legal Advisor with the Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations, (FOMCA) , which work at the national and international levels towards strengthening consumer protection, Senior Manager, Legal and Policy with the National Consumer Complaints Centre, (NCCC) ; and appointed member of the Advertising Committee under the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs.
She read law from 2011 to 2014 at HELP University’s Faculty of Law and Government, receiving HELP Merit Partial Scholarship for her studies and graduated in 2015 with her Bachelor of Law (LLB) (2nd Class Upper Honours) degree.
Shabana had studied at SMK Damansara Utama , Petaling Jaya, for her SPM that she completed in 2005 and obtained her A-Levels in 2008.

Chin Kar Quinn

Chin Kar Quinn (Leo), from Kuala Lumpur (KL) is partner, since August 2019, in the law firm, Neo & Co, placed at Bukit Jalil. His experience in legal practice comprised the following:

Leo completed his secondary school education at SMK Sri Sentosa, scoring 10 As in 2010 and progressed to A-Levels at a private college in KL achieving excellent results of 4 As in 2012. Switching from his school/pre-university studies in science and mathematics, and deciding on the appropriate training and qualification to read law for a promising career, he registered with HELP University (HELP) in 2012 as a candidate for the UK Degree Transfer Programme, (UKDTP).
The UKDTP served to provide him with the necessary infrastructure to read law at a higher level and graduate with a LLB (Bachelor of Laws degree) from a distinguished UK university. HELP rewarded his outstanding SPM and A Levels grades with a Distinction partial scholarship for his HELP LLB studies prior to his subsequent transfer in 2013, to the University of Manchester. Leo graduated with his LLB with 2nd Class Upper Hons from Manchester in 2015 and proceeded to BPP University to prepare for his Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC), the postgraduate course that qualifies law graduates to be named, and practise, as barristers in England and Wales. Leo passed the BPTC in 2016 and was called to the Bar, thereafter he returned to Malaysia.

Jasper, Kweh Kin Ping

From Kuala Lumpur (KL), Jas Kweh was admitted to King’s College, London in 2019 and is progressing in his Master of Laws, (LLM), in International Corporate and Commercial Law studies, and scheduled to complete it and graduate in 2021. In 2015, Jasper registered with HELP University, (HELP), for the UK Degree Transfer Programme, (UKDTP), at the Faculty of Law and Government. He received HELP’s bursary for his studies, completed Year 1 and 2, then transferred to the University of West of England, (UWE), Bristol, in 2017, for his final year studies, graduating in 2018, with Bachelor of Laws (LLB), 2nd Class Upper Hons. Jas proceeded to BPP University, Bristol for the Bar Professional Training Course examination, and passed it in 2019, to qualify and practice as a barrister in England and Wales. HELP is the first private university to introduce the UKDTP, recognised by several prestigious, reputable universities in the UK.
In 2014, Jasper registered with HELP’s Matriculation Centre, (HMC), for Foundation in Arts for the relevant prior learning for his planned law studies, and completed it in 2015. He studied at St John’s Institution in KL, and obtained his SPM, in 2013, with commendable grades.
Jas declares that he is reading LLM Corporate and Commercial Law, which curriculum includes international comparative oil and gas law and commercial arbitration, because of his plans for career specialism, and that he would go for pupillage opportunities upon completion of his LLM.
At UWE, his achievements include receiving the UWE Bristol Future Award, winner at UWE Internal Mooting Competition, being selected for the Oxford University Press National Mooting Competition, semi-finalist at the Annual Internal Mooting Competition, participant in the Richard Murtagh Memorial Moot 2018/2019, quarter-finalist at the Internal Client Interviewing Competition, and also at the Internal Mediation Competition. He was active in the UWE Probono Society. In 2016 and 2018, he gained legal practice exposure in Malaysia during internship and association with several law firms.

Thanraj Singh

Thanraj (Tj) studied at St John’s Institution, (SJI), Kuala Lumpur, and obtained his SPM (Malaysian Certificate of Education) in 2011, scoring 4 As. In 2012, he registered with HELP University, (HELP), for his Foundation in Science studies at the HELP Matriculation Centre, receiving the CEO Partial Scholarship for the programme and completing it in 2013. Fueled by the challenge of new learning and the discovery of passion in a fresh area of study that is promising for his career, he elected in 2014 to read law under the HELP UK Degree Transfer Programme (UKDTP) at the Faculty of Law and Government, receiving the HELP CEO Partial Scholarship for his studies. In 2015, Tj transferred to the University of Leeds, England, to complete his legal studies and graduated with his LLB(Hons) in 2016.
Tj returned to Malaysia to obtain his Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP), passed it in 2019 and proceeded to complete his pupillage in chambers at Rusmah Arunan & Associates in K Lumpur, thereafter, in 2020, was engaged as Legal Associate with Jazzmine Khoo & Associates, the law firm specialising in matrimonial, custody and family law.
Very active in sports during his school and tertiary studies at HELP and at Leeds, Tj was Secretary of the SJI Rugby Club and was Rugby Team Captain and team participant, that won top placements at school, university and national tournaments. Tj also participated in arts, social and cultural activities. At HELP, he was lead organiser for the Law First Year Orientation Night activities, and at Leeds, played a main stage character at a charity theatre production of the Malaysian Society at Leeds University, which later, went on to win best performance by a non-drama club.
Tj cherishes his student experience at Leeds and at HELP: “Leeds was gorgeous and filled with amazing people. Especially for those who have to juggle between sports and academic life, Leeds University was extremely supportive, by ensuring that there are adequate facilities that were easily accessible to everyone”. “The really good experience at HELP University were the people one encountered: the enthusiasm and passion I felt through the voices of the lecturers, as well as the people one met, with whom an everlasting bond was built”.
